Types of library card

East Sussex libraries will be closed for the Bank Holiday on Monday 27 May.

1. How to join the library

Joining the library

You can join online and your Library Card will get posted to you (within 5 working days). You can visit any Library and access our services straight away.

You can use your library card:

There are special library cards for the home library service, reading groups, foster carers, playgroups and childminders.

It’s free to join, borrow books, use our computers and access all our eResources.

We charge for reserving items, hiring DVDs and music, fines for late items, printing and costs for lost or damaged items.

Please renew or return your items as soon as possible to stop any fines you owe from increasing. We’ll email you one day before your loans go overdue or send a reminder by post after 28 days.

See our library fees.

Changing your contact details

Sign into your account to change your phone number, email and PIN.

To change your name and address, please visit your local library with proof of your new name, signature or address.

Lost library cards

If you’ve lost your library card, please bring some identification to your library and we’ll replace your card for a small charge.
