1. Wellbeing Boxes

Wellbeing Boxes are resources to help you take ownership of your health. Each box has interactive resources, local service information and literature about different areas of wellbeing, using the NHS 5 steps to mental wellbeing (connect, be active, take notice, keep learning, give).

What do the boxes contain?

Family and Activity Wellbeing Box

Activities and information for parents/carers with children aged 0–11. Most activities are designed to include your whole family and focus on all areas of wellbeing.

Teen Wellbeing Bags

Suitable for 11–18 year olds, with a focus on physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. The bags can be borrowed by individuals or by organisations for group work.

How do I borrow a Wellbeing Box?

The boxes are easily portable with a clip on lid and carry handle.

The whole box can be borrowed for free from the library, by library members – for up to 3 weeks.

Read to improve wellbeing

We have a range of Reading Well books selected by professionals and our Librarians to support physical and mental wellbeing. There is also a range of Mood Boosting books, recommended by readers, offering a range of uplifting titles including novels, poetry and non-fiction.

What is Reading Well for Mental Health?

Reading Well for Mental Health, delivered by the Reading Agency, is a guide of accredited and helpful reading material to support people to understand and manage their own wellbeing. The books have been recommended and approved by health professionals and cover a wide range of topics including depression, anxiety and OCD.

What’s for young people?

For young people we have a collection of Shelf Help titles aimed at 13–18 year olds which includes 35 titles over 12 topics including anxiety, depression and life experiences such as bullying.

There are two eBook wellbeing collections, all of which are free to download.

3. Wellbeing Events

We host regular events in our Libraries to encourage wellbeing including creative writing workshops and yoga.
