Who do you think would enjoy this story?

I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and thriller stories, and is not easily scared by a hint of danger written down on paper. I’d recommend it for eight- to twelve-year-olds, either boys or girls.

Tell us what the story is about – but don’t give away the ending!

The story is about a girl called Daisy whose Mum fails to return from a shopping trip. While a strange visitor prowls around her home, Brightwood Hall, Daisy is on an urgent mission to find her Mum. During a series of sneaky plots, the visitor, Gritting, attempts to poison her with strawberries and lock her in a wine cellar, all in order to take over Brightwood Hall. Will Gritting triumph over her in the end, and will Daisy ever complete her mission and find her Mum? You’ll have to read it to find out!

Who is your favourite character and why?

My favourite character is James Gritting. However evil his plans were, they certainly were very clever too, and really made me think what I would have done in that situation. I also really admired his perseverance and determination to take over and show Daisy who was boss!

I thought this book was: Great

Daisy, because she loves animals and is very daring. In fact, she’s a bit like me!
