Temporary closures

For safety reasons we sometimes have to close rights of way while we make repairs or improvements, or during construction work nearby. Longer term closures (21 days or more) can be viewed on our online map and all current closures are listed below.

Current closures

  1. Bexhill Footpath 33 (part) - closed during the construction of a new public house/restaurant and Marston’s Lodge for Marston’s Inn and Taverns.
  2. Burwash Footpath 56d (part) - closure extended: still closed to carry out essential rebuilding works to the Mill Pond, Park Mill, Bateman’s Estate.
  3. Buxted Footpath 24 – closure extended: still closed due to a bank slippage.
  4. Chailey Byway 8 – closure extended: still closed due to a dangerous bridge – open to all users except vehicles and horse drawn carriages until repair work begins
  5. Ditchling Footpath 37 (part) - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during the construction of silage clamps and a farmyard manure store.
  6. Forest Row Footpath 13a – closed for bridge replacement and will reopen on/by Monday 8 April 2019.
  7. Framfield Footpath 61b, - closure extended: still closed due to unavailable rail crossing. See also Uckfield footpath 34.
  8. Guestling Footpath 32a (part) - closure extended: still closed for the construction of treatment works.
  9. Hailsham Footpath 34a, 34b - closed to protect public safety while a bridge awaits repair. See also Herstmonceux footpath 67.
  10. Hastings Footpath 58a – closure extended: still closed due to subsidence.
  11. Hastings Footpath 97 – closure extended: still closed due to housing development
  12. Hastings Footpath 131a – closure extended: still closed due to construction of the new Queensway Gateway Road
  13. Hastings Footpaths 379a, 364a and 417 (Ecclesbourne Glen) – closure extended: still closed due to landslips.
  14. Herstmonceux Footpath 67, - closed to protect public safety whilst a bridge awaits repair. See also Hailsham 34a and 34b.
  15. Lewes Town Centre Footpath 53b - and closure extended: - closed to protect public safety during path surface improvement works.
  16. Little Horsted Footpath 3 – closure extended: still closed during housing development. Alternative route available.
  17. Mayfield and Five Ashes 92 - closed to protect public safety during the construction of a new water main between Coggins Mill water treatment works and Coggins Hill service reservoir.
  18. Newhaven Footpaths 3c and 3e - closed to protect public safety during work to construct a new road (Newhaven Port Access Road).
  19. Newhaven Footpath 6 - closed to protect public safety during work to construct a new road (Newhaven Port Access Road).
  20. Plumpton Footpath 17a (part) - closed to to protect public safety while essential repair works are carried out on the railway footbridge.
  21. Polegate Footpath 15 (part) - closed to protect public safety during the construction of a new residential development.
  22. Ringmer Footpath 22 (part) - closed to protect public safety during the construction of a new housing development.
  23. Ticehurst Footpath 21 (part) - to be closed to protect public safety during the construction of a carriageway and associated footpath.
  24. Westfield Byways 50c and 50d – closure extended: still closed to all vehicles.
  25. Westmeston Bridleways 11b and 11c - closed to protect public safety while brick repair and re-surfacing work is carried out on the Meadowsweet/Tar Hut railway bridge.
