For graduates who wish to become a Social Worker, there is an excellent opportunity via the Step up to Social Work programme.
Step-up to Social Work is a full time intensive training programme over a 14 month period beginning January 2026
On completion you will obtain:
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work.
- Guaranteed interview with East Sussex Children’s Services for the ASYE programme.
The course fees are paid for and a bursary of £21,995 is given for the duration of the course, provided by the Department for Education.
The course is looking for strong graduates who have experience of working with children, young people and families, and who can demonstrate emotional resilience.
You are eligible if you can evidence, (via certification) the following:
- A minimum 2:1 level 6 degree qualification OR, a minimum 2:2 honours level 6 degree plus a higher degree (level 7 or above, for example a Master’s degree or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.)
- Grade C or above GSCE in English/ English Language and Maths (or recognised equivalent).
- Experience of working with children, young people and families
