Are you looking to take the next step in your career working with young people with special educational needs and disabilities? Is inclusion important to you?

The Education Division’s SEND EHCP Transitions KS4+ team are seeking to recruit experienced and dynamic advisors to join this new and exciting team!

The role involves working closely with secondary and further educational settings, families and professionals to provide support to settings to develop inclusive culture and practice, build capacity within the setting to ensure inclusion and improve outcomes for learners with Education, Health and Care Plans.

You will be modelling best practice to schools and Further Education establishments to hold Annual Reviews of EHCPs at key stages of transition, and providing advice and guidance to increase their confidence, expertise, and capacity for effective transition planning. You will be ensuring the voice of the young people, and their families, is at the centre of planning and reviews carried out by the service.

The EHCP Transitions team works countywide (Lewes, Eastbourne, Hastings), preference for area-based working will be discussed at interview.

We are looking for applicants who:

  • Have QTS or QTLS.
  • Experience of teaching young people with additional needs in secondary and/or further educational settings and working with their families
  • Can build and maintain good, productive working relationships with colleagues within the team, in settings and across services.
  • Can demonstrate best practice in obtaining and responding to young person voice when planning and reviewing support and ensuring robust preparation for adulthood is in place.
  • Have the ability to manage own workload and meet targets and statutory deadlines.

What we can offer you:
In addition to opportunities to grow your career within our team, we offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment, which include:

  • Regular CPD opportunities
  • A generous leave entitlement which increases with length of service, with the option to purchase additional leave
  • Access to financial wellbeing resources and products
  • A wide selection of discounts with high street retailers, holiday companies and more
  • The choice to be a member of the attractive Local Government Pension Scheme

Please read our help applying for jobs pages carefully. They give you all the guidance you need to complete your application as well as information on what will happen after you’ve submitted your application and at interview.

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and upload a supporting statement, showing how you meet the essential criteria within the job description and job specification. Your supporting statement is the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to determine if you will be invited to attend an interview.

Interviews are scheduled for 25 March 2025 and will be in the form of a face-to-face interview, followed by a task. This will be in County Hall, Lewes.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity contact the Deputy Service Manager: EHCP Transitions KS4+, Gail Lelliott: 07841807369 / gail.lelliott@eastsussex.gov.uk.
