The Chailey School Governors are looking to recruit an inspirational and caring headteacher who will lead the school with passion, ambition and integrity, further developing and delivering our vision and values.  We are looking for a dynamic leader with credible experience in generating commitment and creating a culture of aspiration for all.  The school’s motto is ‘be the best you can be’.

Chailey is a mixed 11-16 local authority maintained community school with 866 students who come to us from across Sussex. With a focus on kindness, we believe our school is a special place, combining quality care and support with a record of high achievement where a broad curriculum offers a wide range of opportunities for students.  We have happy, kind and motivated students and a strong, stable and dedicated staff team.  We are over-subscribed in many of our year groups.

Chailey School enjoys a rural location in beautiful surrounding countryside whilst also having easy access to both Lewes and Brighton.  We are fortunate to have a new main school building with light and airy teaching spaces.

Visits to the school are encouraged and you can book on a school tour by emailing: SRodd@chaileyschool.org. Tours are available on Wednesday 15 January at 1.30pm and Tuesday 21 January at 9.30am.

Please note that recruitment packs for this vacancy will only be provided directly to an individual considering applying to our school for this opportunity. This school does not enter into business with Recruitment Agencies, or other commercial organisations, on behalf of their client’s seeking employment.

Chailey School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment.  All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018. The school will need to ensure they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations. If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
