Do you have a passion for civil law and litigation? Do you enjoy investigative work and analytical decision making? Do you get a thrill from dispute resolution and negotiation? If so, we might have the next challenge you are looking for.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Legal Officer to join our busy and dynamic civil claims team. The successful applicant will have conduct of case work handling personal injury and property damage claims pursued against the three Orbis Local Authorities. The role will predominantly consist of pre-action claims relating to the Highways Act 1980, Occupiers Liability and Employers Liability.

We are looking for excellent communicators who are good team players and have a willingness to learn.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Hold one the following qualifications;
    • Chartered Institute of Legal Executive qualification or a substantial part thereof; or
    • A qualifying Law degree;
    • LPC or BVC; or
    • Substantial proven fee-earning experience in a legal practice.
  • Can demonstrate experience of conducting own caseload within defined areas of legal practice.
  • Has the ability to provide prompt and accurate legal advice.
  • Has the ability to analyse facts, research law and apply it.
  • Has the ability to prioritise work according to importance and urgency.
  • Has the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse range of people and organisations both orally and in writing.
  • Can demonstrate negotiating skills.
  • Can demonstrate drafting skills.
  • Has an organised and methodical approach to work.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
