Buxted CofE Primary is looking for an enthusiastic Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to join our year 6 class team. Buxted is a thriving rural primary with a committed, friendly staff. We have motivated happy children who are rewarding to work with and supportive families. We are surrounded by beautiful grounds and the school is well resourced.

You'll be working closely with the class teacher and teaching assistant supporting a year 6 child, helping them flourish and preparing them for the transition to secondary school.

We need someone who is:

  • Compassionate and caring with a good sense of fun.
  • Patient and intuitive - understanding when to encourage pupil independence and when to step in and support learning.
  • Able to maintain a consistent calm approach to behaviour management.
  • Happy to shoot hoops with a basketball!
  • Happy to follow the lead of the teacher but able to recognise the unique needs of the child.
  • Happy to work on a 1:1 with the child but also with small groups.
  • Able to follow advice from outside agencies and put it into practice in the classroom and in individual sessions.
  • Able to engage warmly and confidently with parents.

Experience of working with children with additional needs would be useful, but showing a willingness to develop your knowledge and enthusiasm to work as part of our team will be viewed very positively.

The role is full time 27.5 hours INA + 5hrs MDSA (midday supervisor) term time. Working hours will be: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 3:30pm.

Applicants will also need to participate in whole school activities and to support the daily work and ethos of a Church of England Primary School.
