Children’s Home in the UK and we’re looking for  creative and innovative Teachers who have the passion to achieve this with us! At present the home is rated Good by Ofsted and undergoing a temporary unforced closure whilst we carry out an ambitious project to relaunch as a centre of excellence in late 2023.

The post holder will carry out the role of a professional teacher as is required in the circumstances of the home reporting to the Head of Learning. We require someone with excellent curriculum knowledge who is able to provide effective teaching, learning and assessment and be demonstrate a passion to support young people at Lansdowne to achieve.

The role requires teaching small groups of highly complex young people who are deprived of their liberty. It will be require working closely with the Care and Health teams with the priority always being the young person’s well-being.

There may be significant gaps in the young person’s education and the role requires someone who can identify these gaps and put in place a plan with the support of the Head of Learning to ensure effective progression.

Key tasks will include:

  • Identifying clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed;
  • setting tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest;
  • setting appropriate and demanding expectations;
  • setting clear targets, building on prior attainment and identifying gaps in learning;

The role is based in Hailsham in East Sussex, just on the doorstep of the beautiful seaside town of Eastbourne. We do encourage applicants from across the UK as we understand the skilled nature of the role and applicants might be based further afield.  We offer a re-location package of up to £8k.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
