Many of the young people that we work with have had adverse or traumatic experiences which have dramatically shaped how they relate to other people and services, including us. The aim of Reflective Practice Supervision is to support the staff and managers in how we respond to that. This strengthens relationships between managers, staff and young people and promotes development and good practice. YMCA DownsLink Group offers Reflective Practice Supervision to all staff groups as a part of its commitment to becoming a more ‘trauma informed’ organisation. This means recognising that the way we work is influenced by the close proximity we have to trauma and supporting vulnerable young people who may find engaging with support difficult.

We are looking for a Reflective Practice Supervisor to join our enthusiastic and supportive team of supervisors who facilitate individual and group Reflective Practice Supervision across the organisation. This role specifically will be working to offer Reflective Practice Supervision groups to our supported accommodation teams. In addition, you will work closely with both the Head of Safeguarding and Head of Therapeutic Services to develop and deliver our Trauma Informed approach across the organisation as well as liaising regularly with the Reflective Practice Supervision (RPS) Team around attendance, bookings and all supervision administration.

This is a hybrid role, working on site and from home - the groups will be run either in-person or remotely online depending on locality and team requirements. You will be working flexibly over the week - with the need to work during the evening (8pm) or in the early morning (7am) for some groups. Your shift pattern is yet to be confirmed and can be discussed at interview. We will also consider a job share for this role if this is of interest - please do apply.

The successful applicant will be a qualified Social Worker / Social Work Practice Educator or will have a Recognised Diploma or Degree in Counselling or Psychotherapy. You will need to have a recognised qualification in Supervision and currently be practicing as a Supervisor or Social Work Practice Educator, and/or have had this experience within the last three years. In delivering the role, you will have knowledge and understanding of reflective practice supervision, theories of social care, Trauma Informed Practice and proven experience in safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. You will already be able to work effectively and professionally with supervisees and to provide containment, support, and advice. In addition, you will have strong organisational / time management skills with the ability to think systemically and work effectively across multiple teams as well working in or alongside Children and Adult Social Care.
