The Senior Health Improvement Practitioner will offer specialist support to schools and the team as part of the  East Sussex Healthy Schools Programme.

Key elements of the role are:

  • Offering specialist support to East Sussex schools and team around four key areas of the school health check (PSHE, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Mental Health) specifically around whole school approaches and how this links to wider school priorities (e.g. OFSTED) to help schools to complete the School Health Check and gain Healthy Schools Status
  • Conducting action plan meetings with schools and providing written reports
  • Day to day planning, allocation and targeting of workloads for core team
  • Leading on implementation of new ways of working to encourage sign up and completion of School Health Check
  • Leading on Excellence Award visits, critically evaluating the work the school does based on criteria in the School Health Check and providing written reports to the school
  • Guiding and developing new ways of working to help meet KPIs around pupil facing delivery with identified groups and within key identified settings
  • Leading on supporting all schools to initiate and complete the annual My Health My School Survey.
  • Influencing effective delivery of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) through leading Relationship and Sex Education training with primary PSHE Hubs (specifically around assessment and leadership and management of PSHE)
  • Maintenance of Healthy Schools pages (including resource Hub) for education providers on our website

The role will make an active contribution to marketing/social marketing in a range of forms, and will be expected to contribute in the delivery of Health Improvement events to engage the public and schools with the aim of driving referrals
