East Sussex Youth Justice Service strives to provide high quality, effective youth justice services that see children as children, which focus on their strengths, enabling them to fulfil their potential and be the best they can be. This will enhance lives, prevent re-offending, create fewer victims and lead to safe communities.

As a practice manager you will be responsible for managing  a multi-disciplinary team including youth justice service practitioners and practitioners seconded from other agencies who hold case responsibility as the supervising officer for children subject to the full range of Youth Justice Disposals.

We are looking for a practice manager who has:

  • An up to date knowledge criminal justice legislation and practice
  • Management experience or who wants to take the next step into management
  • Will be part of a local management team and will enjoy working as part the broader children’s services management team.
  • Can work in partnership with other agencies to develop and deliver high quality and effective interventions for children at all stages of the criminal justice system
  • Is confident in managing youth justice practice and sharing knowledge and skills in ways which enables our services to continue to improve and you to continue your own professional development.
  • Is competent and confident in using data to understand and support the practice of your team and their positive impact for our service users.

 

Candidates will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  
  • A passion for child first practice and developing and delivering a service which see children support all children to achieve their potential
  • An ability to engage effectively to overcome resistance and build relationships
  • An ability to manage workload independently
  • A commitment to training and personal development

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
