Solution Architect

Hours of work: 37 hours per week
Working pattern: Full-time

Closing date: Sunday 18 December 2022
Interview date: Week commencing Monday 9 January 2023

For an informal discussion, please contact Aaron Filsell - IT Lead Architect on 07710 068464.

Do you enjoy working with people to design IT solutions? Are you able to understand technical requirements and turn them into IT solutions that make a real-world impact? Want to work as part of a fun, supportive and forward-thinking team? Then a Solution Architect position with ESCC might be the perfect opportunity for you!

Working as part of the IT Architecture and Analysis team, our Solution Architects work on multiple projects from all areas of the local authority – from Adult Social Care to Libraries to Children Services (amongst others) – all with varying target outcomes. One project could be looking for new hardware devices to support inclusion, whereas another might be sourcing a new application to support a specific business need – no two projects are the same!

Our Solution Architects are responsible for guiding and assisting our stakeholders towards IT solutions that provide real value, including those with specific requirements all the way through to strategic projects that span the whole Council. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and the ability to come up with innovative solutions.

Ideally, you’ll be TOGAF certified, with previous experience in a similar role. Or, you might have transferable skills that match our job description (link below).

You will build relationships quickly, transfer requirements to IT solutions, establish technical specifications, and recommend solutions that fit with our current IT landscape. You will work closely with our IT Project Managers to deliver solutions and provide advice along the way.

Reporting directly to the IT Lead Architect, you will have strong communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate. You will enjoy working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues. You will like working with lots of different stakeholders with diverse and (sometimes) complex requirements. You should understand the value of working for a local authority and have a commitment towards providing public services.

To apply for this role please follow the ‘Apply Now’ button above. When completing your application be sure to address how you meet all the criteria in the person specification drawing on any relevant work/life experience, education, or personal interests.

Interviews will take place via Microsoft Teams unless you request an in-person interview.

Interviews will be taking place on the week commencing Monday 9 January 2023.

We offer a flexible approach to work, often working remotely, taking advantage of our excellent IT kit (Dell 2 in 1 laptop / Apple iPhone SE / plus more!).

You will have access to a suite of applications to help you do your work, including Microsoft Teams, our collaboration platform on which we conduct and attend virtual meetings. We also offer the option to run meetings face to face at various locations across the County.

You will be welcomed into an experienced, fun, and inclusive team who will support you every step of the way – from your first day all the way through to recommending solutions!

We will provide you with training associated to the Solution Architect role (that you haven’t already completed), and we will encourage you to actively seek out new opportunities to grow your career.

We offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment. More information can be found on our benefits page.
