The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations. 

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

Caretaker Salary: Single Status Grade 4, Actual Salary £19264.00

We are a popular one form entry Church of England Primary School based in the heart of Herstmonceux village. We are part of the Sussex Spires Federation alongside All Saint’s and St Richard’s CE Primary School and have a strong working relationship with them where we share good practice, experiences and support one another.

We are looking for an enthusiastic level 3 caretaker. The successful candidate will demonstrate a good understanding of health and safety requirements including COSHH (full training will  be provided), the ability to identify work priorities and manage workload as well as being be able to undertake routine maintenance, basic repairs and DIY tasks. School experience is not required as training will be provided to up skill the right candidate. Some literacy, numeracy and ICT skills are desirable to meet the record keeping requirements of the post.

The post holder should be able to act on their own initiative working with the School Business Manager and Head of School to ensure the security and safety of the school premises and grounds.

The successful candidate will be required to open the school for third parties using the premises outside of school hours.

Duties will include: ensuring the school premises is clean and tidy, liaising with contractors and the cleaning team where needed, hall floor cleaning, advising when large repairs are needed, carrying out small maintenance repairs and undertaking daily, weekly and periodic health and safety checks.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
