New Horizons, St Leonards-on-Sea, is seeking to appoint an innovative, enthusiastic and effective practitioner with empathy towards children with SEN – in particular SEMH.   

  • We require a teacher with experience of teaching at primary or secondary level to deliver general subjects to our KS3 pupils
  • The teacher will have tutor responsibility for a year 7 class which comprises of up to 12 children
  • The teacher which will deliver English and Maths to this class group along with other subject areas
  • The teacher will deliver our bespoke “Resilience” outdoor learning curriculum to their class
  • The teacher will plan and deliver aspects of the KS3 curriculum across year 7, 8 and 9

If you are someone who:

  • Understands the benefits of a physical style curriculum for vulnerable, hard to reach children
  • Enjoys working with pupils who enjoy and achieve in the practical elements of learning
  • Enjoys being part of an experienced and supportive team of colleagues
  • Is a Teacher who is ready to manage a highly structured curriculum for small vulnerable groups
  • Can effectively manage pupils in the classroom and outdoors in a range of contexts
  • Would like to further develop food within our school and our wider stakeholder communities

You will need to:

  • Be an experienced practitioner who is ready for the next challenge which is wider than the school
  • Someone who understands how to differentiate the curriculum effectively for a range of learning abilities & needs
  • A highly skilled communicator inclusive of all stakeholders
  • Have a proven track record for high expectations and quality first teaching
  • Someone who can Inspire and Motivate individuals
  • Someone who can analytically think and make rational decisions in a crisis
  • Someone who can follow the School structure, policies and procedures with the highest level of consistency
