An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerk to the Governing Body to join our team as soon as possible.

We are a large, welcoming and inclusive, Primary School located on the beautiful South Coast, with 434 children currently on roll. Our values are an inclusive “Catholic, Coastal and Diverse” approach to all.

We are very proud of our school grounds and building, with staff and children who show dedication to caring for our classrooms, communal areas and displays of work.

The main functions of the role are: agenda setting, collating and distribution of meeting papers, taking minutes, preparing and distributing minutes, providing procedural advice to the Governing Body and maintaining Governor records.

The Governing Board are looking for someone who is reliable, confident, good with people and with an interest in school governance. You will need skills in effective administrative practice and experience of minute taking. You will also need to be confident in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint and email. A laptop will be provided and you will need to have access to the internet. Training and support will be provided. An understanding of confidentiality is essential for this role.

The role will be recruited to under the Clerking Service Protocol; applicants must either hold a relevant award (BTEC level 3 in Clerk to the Governing Body or equivalent) or be prepared to work towards the East Sussex Clerk to Governors Accreditation Scheme, for which funding and training will be provided.

Salary scales are dependent on the skill and experience of each candidate.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
