We are looking for a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) Support Project Worker to join our highly motivated and energetic team. In this role you will support a caseload of young people or adults at risk, using a trauma informed and advantage thinking approach to support them in achieving their goals. This is challenging yet rewarding work where no two days are the same.
A key focus will be to coach young people to manage their occupancy agreement and adhere to house rules, in preparation for independent living and promote a credit culture, encouraging young people to keep up to date with all payments for rent. In addition, you will promote involvement in group-work and activities to develop skills, enter education and seek employment, volunteering, and training opportunities.
In addition, you will ensure young people are encouraged to take responsibility and action in their own personal development and keep clear records of the young person’s journey in relation to their needs, risks, strengths / assets, and outcomes. You will record all incidents, accidents and safeguarding issues that require further investigation, and share appropriately e.g. with project staff, the on-call manager. There will be times when loan working will be a requirement for this role.
This role is on site and will be based at Burgess Hill, with travel across Burgess Hill sites and Crawley. Your working pattern will be Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. It’s essential you hold a current driving license and have access to a vehicle as you will traveling between Burgess Hill and Crawley with the possibility of other sites in West Sussex such as Horsham and Worthing.
Who You Are
A successful applicant will love being involved in the support and growth of young people. You will be experienced and passionate about working directly with young people and unaccompanied asylum seekers aged 16-25, being able to engage and relate well to this age group and have a strong understanding of the key risks, challenges, and opportunities for young people. You will already be a team player but also able to work on your own initiative and feel comfortable doing lone work at times.
You will have sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures in relation to young people and/or vulnerable adults, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries (training provided). You will be a confident and capable communicator along with being self-aware to empower but also, challenge and support when appropriate.
