This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018. 

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations. 

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted. 

The Governing Body are seeking an enthusiastic person to provide secretarial / clerical support for the Governors.  Duties will include arranging meetings, preparing meeting papers and taking minutes, maintaining a business calendar including policy reviews.

The Governing Body are looking for someone who is reliable, confident, good with people and with an interest in governance. You will need skills in good administration practice and experience of minute taking. You will also need to be confident in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and email and have access to a computer and the internet.

Responsibilities will include working effectively with the chair of governors,  headteacher and other governors to secure continuity of governing body business. To advise on procedural and legislative matters and to ensure the Governing Body works to the legal framework. An understanding of confidentiality is essential for this role. Most meeting take place in the evenings and there are 8 meeting per year.

The role will be recruited under the Clerking Service protocol; applicants must either hold a relevant award (BTEC level 3 in Clerk to the Governing Body or equivalent) or be prepared to work towards the East Sussex Clerk to Governors Association Scheme, for which funding and training will be provided.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
