We are looking for an experienced public health specialist practitioner to lead on an interesting and varied work programme within our Mental Health and Best Start Team.
The post holder will be based in East Sussex Public Health Team but work closely with a range of Council and external colleagues including children’s services, School Health, schools and early years settings.
The position arises from an internal secondment. The post holder will manage an established work programme but will have some freedom to innovate and develop the current offer.

The role will involve managing and developing core projects relating to children and families including,
- HALO Programme - supporting the health and wellbeing of children, staff and families through early years settings
- Accident prevention
- Weight management
- Healthy Schools Programme (incl PSHE Hubs)
Since March 2021, East Sussex County Council have been defining new ways of working by building on what we’ve learnt through the pandemic to maintain positive changes and addressing those that are not working. A hybrid working style has been assigned to this role, which allows work to be undertaken at home, as well as on site. The role will require some in-person meetings to deliver Public Health business needs. Part-time hours and job share will be considered
The post holder will be able to work independently, across a diverse network of professionals and organisations, establishing and maintaining relationships to aid the project work. They will be able to problem solve and identify opportunities for development.
You will be supported in your personal development but will also be expected to work closely with junior colleagues to help advance their skills and knowledge.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
