Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Do you have a passion for supporting children, young people and their families?

Do you want to make a difference to children and young people by helping them to access their education?

As part of a team of experienced staff, you will work alongside professionals drawing up and delivering bespoke packages of support. This will involve mentoring the pupil, as well as working with the family and school to establish positive, effective working relationships.

A skilled practitioner, you will have experience of working with children and their families and the confidence to help those with behavioural and/or attendance problems. As well as a genuine interest in this area, you’ll also bring sound observation and evaluation skills and the ability to engage effectively with young people.

As an Extended Support Practitioner you will provide 1:1 support and group sessions to parents and carers in need of some advice and guidance around parenting strategies; you will also be responsible for working with permanently excluded children and young people and ensuring they have a successful transition and reintegration to their ongoing school placement.

The post will work Countywide and will be based at St Mark’s House in Eastbourne, but with flexibility for some home working as part of a hybrid working model. You will work as part of an existing team and be supported through regular supervisions, case discussions and peer support.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
