The services delivered by the Communities, Economy and Transport department (CET) have an enormous impact on the lives of local people and the natural environment. From operating waste facilities and registration offices, to maintaining roads and major infrastructure planning, the moment an East Sussex resident steps outside their front door, they are interacting with our work. Therefore, roles in our department offer enormous scope to make a positive impact on the quality of life for people and the environment of East Sussex. We are looking for people who can help us to improve the links between the areas we operate in, such as using libraries, improving adult literacy, transporting vulnerable people to the shops to help keep them independent or installing high speed broadband to support businesses to modernise.

The Parking Team manage four very busy parking schemes in the districts and boroughs of Lewes, Eastbourne, Hastings and Rother.

The parking review officers assume day to day responsibility for the management of parking reviews across the county. The team undertakes regular parking reviews across the four parking schemes. Parking review officers play a vital role in this work. Officers are responsible for reviewing, consulting and processing TROs for all parking restrictions including school keep clear markings, bus stop clearways, disabled bays and access protection markings.

In addition to the reviews, we manage the legal processes around the advertising and sealing of all traffic regulation orders (TROs) for all teams in the council. This includes the processing of all permanent, experimental, and temporary TROs.

We are looking for someone to join the team as a parking review officer. You will need to be able to deal with conflicting demands on your time and be able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines. You must have excellent IT and communication skills, be able to work with tact and sensitivity and be able to convey information clearly. You need to have an understanding of Civil Parking Enforcement and relevant legislation and have experience of working with map based information systems such as ParkMap. Additionally, we are looking for someone who is hardworking, flexible, and who enjoys working as part of a team.
