Could you use your experience in data management and knowledge of business intelligence tools to help put data at the heart of the public service planning at East Sussex County Council. If so, this may be the role for you.
We are looking for an innovative, forward-thinking person to deliver data driven insights. You will be primarily working with the Inclusion, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (ISEND) area of the Children’s Services Department. The role provides ongoing support of report development and statutory returns and requires demonstratable experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
The implementation of business intelligence tools within the authority is a key foundation to support our data insight and research capabilities. Experience of Tableau and or Power BI is desirable, but not essential.
As a member of the IT and Digital Information Management Team, you will contribute to the delivery of the team’s work programme. You will be helping to drive change through improvements in the data literacy culture throughout the authority.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience and understanding of data management best practice.
- Experience of working with Microsoft SQL Server Databases, strong SQL skills and creating reporting solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent negotiating skills, ability to influence and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders.
- The ability to work effectively, with a high degree of autonomy if required; and
- The confidence to develop creative solutions to complex problems.
The post is advertised as full time (37 hours over five days a week). However, job-share applications and other flexible working needs will happily be considered. The contractual base for the post is County Hall, Lewes however, ESCC are adopting a hybrid working model, where it is possible to enable staff to be as productive as possible no matter where, when or who they work with. All the necessary hardware will be provided with the role.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
