Hours of work: 37 hours per week
Working pattern: Full-time

Job Introduction

Are you looking for your first job, change career or return to work?  This is the ideal job for you. We are looking for someone to join the Financial Services team as a Financial Assessment Assistant.

Our team calculates what people need to pay towards care and support services arranged by us. We help the most vulnerable people in East Sussex to ensure they receive the correct level of financial assistance towards care and support. We provide support to clients of Adult Social Care, the public and Adult Social Care practitioners.

The key tasks of the role are:

  • Handle inbound and outbound communication including telephone calls, emails and post
  • Maintain accurate records of all interactions regarding clients in the appropriate database
  • Process financial assessment requests from Adult Social Care practitioners to ensure the appropriate financial assessment is completed
  • Complete basic financial assessments including ‘light-touch’ financial assessments.


We are looking for someone who can work on their own initiative, be organised, self-motivated, collaborative, empathic and understand the needs of vulnerable people. Experience is not required and full on the job training will be provided.

We are working in a hybrid approach, which means that we will support you to work remotely if you wish to, although some time in the office is required, this could be minimal and will be subject to agreement with your line manager. You will be fully supported within your probationary year which will include face-to-face support within the team and remotely by a ‘buddy’.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
