We are a thriving Trust on the south coast of England with 16 current schools, 4927 children and 706 staff.  We are preparing for further growth and are looking to appoint a Governance Professional and Senior Administrator.  You will work closely with our Head of Operations and Governance providing advice, support for Trustees, local governors and their clerks to maximise quality and impact of governance and ensuring that we are offering a first-class service to our schools. 

Our Trust has a large geographical spread, with our finance office in Chichester in our West region and the central office based in Eastbourne in our East region. This post allows you to be based in either of our Chichester (West) or Eastbourne (East) offices and will require regular travel to Trust Board meetings and our schools where necessary. 


The successful candidate will be responsible for: 

• Providing efficient and effective clerking and support to the Trust board and its committees and other Trust meetings when required. 

• Supporting governance at all levels to ensure carrying out its functions 

• Supporting the delivery and ongoing improvement of governance support across the trust 

• Providing administrative support within the Trust Centre team 


You will need to have:  

• Successful experience of working in a school or academy administrative role, or in a similar position working alongside schools e.g. Local Authority schools’ role or independent education sector. 

• Outstanding communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with senior staff including CEO/COO, Headteacher and other school leadership and Chair of Governors level and to liaise effectively with internal and external auditors, as well as Government agencies 

• Ability to analyse complex issues, to interpret information and to offer sound, reliable professional advice 

• Competent and confident in using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams 

• Ability to work effectively under pressure, managing conflicting priorities and to meet challenging deadlines 

• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy 


Salary and Hours

East Sussex Single Status Grade 8, sp20-22 £24,011 - £25,933 per annum, pro-rata.  

25 hours per week which must include Tuesday term time only plus 2 weeks (negotiable for the right candidate)

Actual Salary range for Term Time Only + 2 weeks £14,735 - 15,915 per annum

Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the academy, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
