•    Location: Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom
•    Earnings: £24,445 per annum
YMCA DLG stands together with children and young people who are at risk; keeping them safe, supporting their emotional wellbeing, and enabling them to belong, contribute and thrive in their local community. We work to prevent youth homelessness across Sussex and Surrey and provide a home to 763 young people every night. We reach a further 10,000 young people and their families through our other key services, such as counselling, support and advice, mediation, and youth work, so that all young people can belong, contribute and thrive.

YMCA Guildford Foyer is YMCA Guildford’s Diversity Award-winning supported housing project offering accommodation to 34 young people, ages 16-25. We support young people to develop socially and personally in order that they may grow in confidence and learn to live more independently.

The Role
We are recruiting a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) Support Project Worker with a flair for supporting and inspiring young people. This role is wide-ranging, rewarding and includes several key responsibilities; you will support a caseload of young people or adults at risk, using a trauma informed and advantage thinking approach to support them in achieving their goals. You will enable young people to articulate and achieve their ambitions and support residents to acquire skills they need to lead independent, fulfilling lives. A key focus will be to coach young people to manage their occupancy agreement and adhere to house rules, in preparation for independent living and promote a credit culture, encouraging young people to keep up to date with all payments for rent.

This role is on a rolling rota - you will work 5 days in 7 days, consisting of onsite shifts between 8am and 10pm; Monday – Sunday (includes 2 out of 4 weekends), but extensive training will be delivered prior to starting on rota.

Who You Are
A successful applicant will love being involved in the support and growth of young people and will be able to actively encourage residents into education, training and employment. You will be passionate about supporting young people to lead in independent lives, enjoy working in an exciting, fast-paced environment, have a sense of humour and the drive to deliver an outstanding service. You will be able to facilitate a process of development that allows the young person to take the lead in identifying actions and goals, along with learning about the key risks, challenges and opportunities for our client group. Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience of working with young people leaving care, along with an awareness of all aspects of safeguarding.

We also know that there are great candidates who will not fit everything we have described above, or who have important skills we have not mentioned. If that is you, please do not hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.
