Teaching Assistant Oakwood Primary Academy

We are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic and inspirational Teaching Assistants to join our school, who have experience of working with children and supporting their learning within the classroom, as well as providing supervision for group work and working with children on a one to one basis. We are seeking candidates who may have an interest in supporting pupils with special educational needs. We wish to appoint a Teaching Assistant who can work flexibly across all year groups within the primary age range, according to the needs of our school.

Oakwood Primary Academy is a two-form entry primary school in Eastbourne, for pupils aged 4-11 with over 300 pupils on roll. The majority of our pupils come from the local community – a community we are proud to serve. We are a school that is undergoing a transformation and is committed to raising standards for all our pupils. Our four values of ‘Knowledge, Equality, Determination and Achievement’ underpin everything that we do, belonging to every pupil. These help to create our vision for the school of ‘Being Better Every Day’.

Are you a good team player and positive thinker who can inspire children to learn? If so, please read below:
The qualities we are looking for in our Teaching Assistants:

  • To have a positive approach with natural enthusiasm working with children,
  • To have an ability to enable all children, as individuals, to thrive in your care,
  • To be flexible and adaptable – you may be required to support a group of children under the direction of the Teacher/SENCO, but also help to provide support on an individual basis to a child to support the needs of the child and the school
  • Have effective oral and written communication skills, with good IT skills,
  • Possess a commitment to helping children do their best.

In return staff working at Oakwood Primary Academy benefit from:

  • Collaborative CPD opportunities to assist in your role,
  • A well-resourced school and classrooms,
  • A supportive staff team,
  • Children who are motivated and wanting to learn,
  • A supportive environment that will allow you to be your best.

Further information about the school can be found at:  www.oakwoodprimaryacademy.org.  Visits to the school are welcome, and encouraged, so that candidates can find out more about the role and the school.

Please contact: Mrs Susan Hubbard, School Business Manager by email shubbard@auroraacademies.org or telephone the school on 01323 501251, for an application pack (application form/job description/person specification) and to arrange a visit.

The school has a commitment to safeguarding children and all posts are subject to enhanced DBS clearance, pre-employment health questionnaire and two satisfactory references.
