Definitive Map Officer

Hours of work: up to 37 hours per week

We are looking for a Definitive Map Officer to join our dedicated Rights of Way and Countryside Team. Working alongside another full time Officer, you will manage Definitive Map Modification Order (DMMO) applications and the associated casework. This statutory work involves carrying out in-depth historical research, analysing witness statements, liaising with landowners and applicants, writing formal reports and making legal orders.

You will ideally have experience of Public Rights of Way and DMMOs, and a good understanding of the legal processes involved.  You will have strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple cases, together with a strong eye for detail and a methodical approach. A high standard of written and verbal communication skills is essential. Experience of GIS (ArcMap) and map reading skills are also required.

The role is based in Lewes, with a mixture of home and office working to suit the needs of the service. Whilst full time hours are available, we welcome applications from people looking for part time work. Please state in your application what your preferred working hours would be. 

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
