The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.

Teaching Assistants - The Southfield Trust

The Southfield Trust is looking to appoint class-based teaching assistants to undertake learning support duties and assist the class teacher in meeting the day to day needs of the pupils. Teaching assistants may have the opportunity to work in any one of our four schools across Eastbourne.  Teaching Assistants support the teacher with the delivery of the curriculum and respond to the pupils’ needs enabling them to make good progress in their learning. The pupils in our schools may have speech and language needs, autism and/or complex learning disabilities. Some students also have associated emotional/ behavioural difficulties. 

You will work alongside a friendly and supportive team who have a wealth of expertise and are committed to the continuing professional development of all staff. The Trust offers a strong programme of in school training and a range of career development opportunities.

A permanent contract is offered subject to the completion of a successful probationary period. The paid hours of work are 30 per week (6 hours each day) - Monday to Friday. This is a term time only post - paid 44.85 weeks per year.  As this post is part time/ term time only the salary paid will be a pro rata'd figure of the full-time salary (£18,887 (1.0fte)).  The actual post salary will be £13,172 per year.

The Southfield Multi Academy Trust consists of three exceptional special schools – The South Downs School, The Lindfield School and Hazel Court School, which provide the best possible educational opportunities for all their learners and their families. The Trust is also currently in an exciting phase of development which includes the opening of a new School, Summerdown School, in the autumn of 2022.
