Training objectives |
This course is aimed at personnel who are or will be responsible for use of stepladders and stools in the work place. There are no prerequisites required for this course although a working knowledge of ladders is an advantage.
This Low Level Steps & Stools course provides training for infrequent users wanting to equip themselves with the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to use step ladders and step stools legally and safely. Written with the guidance from the UK's leading experts on ladder manufacture, maintenance and safety, the Ladder Association scheme addresses all the issues raised by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and, more recently, the Work and Height Regulations 2005.
Under the regulations every person in the chain leading up to, and including, the final user, has a duty of care to both themselves and others to know and understand the practical implications of working safety at height. Demonstration of competence is a key requirement of the new regulations and successful completion of the L.A Stepladder and Stools Training Course provides proof of such competence.
This course consists of a training room lecture, DVD presentation, written assessment, practical training and assessment.

Course description | This course is suitable for anyone in an organisation who require to raise their awareness of the risks of unsafe manual handling practices and for people who may have to carry out manual handling as part of their job, e.g. handling deliveries, parcels and boxes. |
Training objectives | Successful delegates will be able to develop their understanding of the principles of manual handling and provide them with the opportunity to practice safer manual handling principles when moving objects on their own, using equipment and as part of a team. Please note that learners will be expected to take part in exercises that require you to bend to the floor and lift items, so please ensure delegates are in good health and do not have anything that may preclude them from taking part in the practical assessment. Delegates must be at least 16 years old to attend this course and it is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in Literacy or Numeracy, or equivalent due to the multiple choice examination at the end of the course. |
Learning outcomes | At the end of the course delegates will take a multiple choice test. Successful delegates will receive an A4 certificate which will be valid for a period of 3 years from the date of the course. |

Learning outcomes | This course is suitable for anyone in an organisation who require to develop their knowledge of COSHH regulations and requirements. In addition, it is suitable for those who intend to work in an environment where it's likely they will be coming into contact with hazardous substances. This includes workplaces such as healthcare, manufacturing, cleaning, transport, utilities and office environments. Delegates must be at least 16 years old to attend this course and it is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in Literacy or Numeracy, or equivalent due to the multiple choice examination at the end of the course. |

First Aid
Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3

Course description | The Emergency First Aid at Work course is covered over 6 hours. It provides an excellent introduction to the basic principles of First Aid, and trains you to take control of a first aid situation in the workplace in the absence of a fully trained First Aider (see First Aid at Work). The course tutor will assess you throughout the course, through multiple choice papers and observations. Upon completion, First Aid Awards will provide a certificate. At the end of the course trainees must demonstrate the skills and knowledge learnt during the course, when there will be some hands-on floor work. This will include demonstration of delegates' CPR skills, including chest compressions. Please note that if you ae unable for any reason to demonstrate those skills to a satisfactory degree you will not be able to pass the course and you will not receive a certificate. Your certificate will last for 3 years. |

Course description | The Annual First Aid at Work Refresher is covered over 3 hours and is designed to update and refresh the knowledge and skills of anyone with the First Aid at Work or the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. First Aid Refresher training is strongly recommended by the HSE and First Aid Awards and is ideally completed one year and then two years after qualification (i.e., two Annual First Aid Refreshers should be completed during the three years of qualification). Learning outcomes | The course gives you the chance to refresh your skills and practice realistic situations to build on your knowledge and confidence when dealing with First Aid situations in the workplace. The course includes assessing the situation in an emergency, dealing with unconscious casualties (including seizure), cardiopulmonary resuscitation, wounds and bleeding and shock. There is no formal assessment at the end of the course, although trainees must demonstrate their skills and knowledge learnt during the course. Trainees do not receive a certificate at the end of the course as the training is a refresher of the qualification already held. |
