Assessment

Key Stage 2 Cluster Moderation Meetings 2024

Cluster moderation meetings aim to verify the 2024 Key Stage 2 teacher assessment judgements of writing and ensure that teachers' assessment of pupil achievement at the end of Key Stage 2 is consistent across all schools. Schools that have not been selected for statutory moderation should send at least one teacher to one of these meetings. These meetings also aim to support teachers with assessment and share good practice.

Training objectives

  • To ensure that teachers are appropriately supported to make accurate end of Key Stage 2 writing assessments
  • To ensure that teacher assessments of writing at the end of Key Stage 2 are accurate across the county
  • To support teachers to identify gaps and opportunities to improve teaching going forward
  • To share good practice

Before the moderation meeting, delegates will need to have completed initial teacher assessments of writing for their selected pupils. Pupils' work from across the curriculum should be used to support the judgements. There is also an expectation that the samples of work will have been moderated in-school prior to the meeting.
