About the Role

Our Compliance Team is part of the wider Property Service within the Orbis partnership, which encompasses Surrey County Council, East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council. The purpose of this partnership is to deliver greater value for our councils, residents and customers by increasing efficiencies and exploiting the benefits of sharing people, resources and technology.

We are recruiting now for a Compliance Engineer to be based in Lewes, East Sussex.

As a Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring mechanical and electrical services installations are maintained by external providers to an appropriate standard, on time and within budget. There is a strong Health & Safety focus, with a need to carry out audits and make sure our database is up to date and accurate.

You will assist with the provision of all essential building services, including gas and oil boiler plant, air conditioning, water risk, fire safety systems, LV electrical installations, sewage plant etc. You need to be aware of the risks associated with asbestos.

The post holder will work with staff at all levels in Orbis Property and will be required to work in project teams with colleagues from other specialist Property areas. They will be expected to deal with Members, Senior Officers, Consultants and various clients as well as peers from other authorities on technical issues that affect the organisation.

To be shortlisted for interview you must clearly demonstrate:

- Ideally completed an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship;
- Experience of various maintenance techniques, standards and methodologies;
-  A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of various plant, equipment and related services;
- Full understanding of mechanical, electrical and utility compliance requirements, with wider knowledge in fire, health and safety legislation.
