Become a childminder - help shape young lives

Your unique perspective matters
Start childminding and use your experiences to help shape young lives
Whether you’re looking for a part-time opportunity or a full-time career, childminding offers a rewarding career with flexibility to work around your family.
It’s also a chance to shape young lives and make a difference to your local community.
And the good news is, we’re here to support you every step of the way. It's a welcoming and inclusive community where diversity is celebrated.
What is a Childminder?
A childminder receives payment for looking after at least one child for more than two hours a day.
You can work at home, in a community hall, or partner with a local school. You could also employ an assistant to help your business expand and grow when the time is right.
No formal qualifications are needed, and we can support you with training and the help you need to succeed.

How about offering wraparound childcare?
As a childminder you can choose to provide wraparound care which runs before and after the school day:
- typically before school from 8am
- and after school until 6pm.
These part time hours could fit well around and grow with your own family life.
As with traditional childminding, you can provide wraparound childcare from your own home or on a school site, or at another local setting like a community centre or a nursery.
When you provide wraparound care, you are eligible for a £600 Wraparound Care Grant to help cover your start-up costs. A fantastic opportunity to start your childminding business. The grant is available to childminders who completed their registration with Ofsted or a childminder agency between 1 September 2024 and 31 March 2026. To apply for the grant, email us at Wraparound Childcare.
