The benefits of net zero
A net zero East Sussex will bring many benefits, including:
- Warmer and better insulated homes will mean there is less fuel poverty and fewer winter deaths from cold homes.
- People will be healthier due to cleaner air. Low and zero emission buses and cars, and more people choosing to walk or cycle, will mean less air pollution. We will be less reliant on fossil fuels and imports from other countries, and therefore less vulnerable to volatile energy prices.
As emissions are reduced globally, our exposure to climate risks in East Sussex – such as coastal erosion and flooding – will also reduce.
