Living and teaching in East Sussex

East Sussex is a great place to develop your teaching career. With comprehensive support and training, you can make more of a difference in the classroom and beyond.

Teaching here

You can teach in a wide variety of locations from small primary schools in beautiful rural areas to large urban secondaries.

It's exceeded my expectations.

Supporting you

  • Local teaching schools and alliances support teachers at every career level from Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) to Executive Headteacher.
  • Education Improvement Partnerships (EIPs) are groups of schools working together to improve outcomes for pupils at all schools. They offer training and development opportunities for teachers.
  • In East Sussex, system leaders work with schools besides the one that they work in. There are layers of system leadership. Specialist leaders of education are highly competent subject leaders who support teaching, learning and curriculum development in other schools. There are also local leaders of education and lead governors.
