Independent Travel Training

Children and young people with special needs and disabilities can get help to travel independently.

Learning Independence for Travel (LIFT) training is for young people aged 10 to 19, who are receiving support travelling to school or college. 80% of trainees learn to travel independently and no longer need a taxi. It’s run by National Star College.

The trainer will offer a bespoke 1:1 programme for their journey to school or college, working closely with the family. The young person can also get a level 1 or 2 qualification in Travelling.

To refer a young person for ITT, use the referral form.
