Parent Portal privacy notice

East Sussex County Council processes personal information and is a ‘data controller’ for the purposes of the new Data Protection Act from 25 May 2018 and will host the Parent Portal at our premises.

East Sussex County Council is committed to protecting your privacy. This section describes how ESCC collects and uses personal information entered through the Parent Portal.

How do we collect information?

The Parent Portal contains a number of features that allows you to enter information about you and your child/children in order to apply for Early Years funding, Free School Meals or School Admissions places.

By creating an account and entering information into the Parent Portal you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child/children in question.

How do we use this information?

We will use the information entered into the Parent Portal, where appropriate, for one or more of the following purposes:

  • perform eligibility checks for Early Years funding and/or Free School meals
  • create your applications/preferences for school places

This information will be stored and held and may be used for more than one purpose i.e. if you supply data for eligibility checking at age two this may be saved and used, if appropriate, to check for EYPP eligibility; verification of 30 Hours eligibility and/or Free School Meals eligibility at a later date.

We will only collect this information about you and your child with your consent and will not share it with any other organisation unless you have given your permission to do so.

We will keep the information provided for as long as we may need it for either of the above purposes but will not keep it longer than necessary and always in line with our retention schedule.

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you. If you wish to see a copy of the information we hold then please contact:

By providing us with your personal data via the Parent Portal you consent to the collection and use of this information in accordance with the purposes described above in this privacy statement.

You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time. To do so please contact either the Admissions team or the Early Years team.

Changes

If your personal details change, please help us to keep your information up to date by notifying us.

We may change the terms of this privacy statement from time to time. If we do so, we will post the changes here. By continuing to use the Parent Portal you will be deemed to have accepted such changes.
