Education personal budgets

You can ask for an education personal budget if

• your child has a draft or final education, health and care plan (EHC plan)
• you are age 16 to 25 and you have a draft or final EHC plan.

Personal education budgets can give you more choice about how education is provided. For example, you can ask for some of the education in the EHC plan to be provided by someone other than the school.

We may agree a personal budget if

  • the funding can be separated from the main school or college budget
  • there is no extra cost to the local authority
  • it will help meet the outcomes in the EHC plan

If we agree a personal budget we will manage the money for you, or you can asked for a direct payment to buy services yourself .
