Current Activity

The Task Group members are engaged on the following to improve awareness of engineering:

  • Sussex STEM is applying on behalf of the Engineering Task Group to the Royal Academy of Engineers to their Ingenious Awards Programme. The proposal would engage the public with engineers and engineering while providing engineers with the skills and opportunities to participate in public engagement.
  • Another key member of the Task Group, Culture Shift, are leading a project called ‘Your Town’. Funded through the Royal Academy of Engineering Ingenious Fund, this will enable secondary and college age young people in Hastings, Eastbourne and Newhaven meet with engineers to find out more about what they do.

For the Careers Campaign 2020–21 the Task Group have agreed that the following roles need to be prioritised;

  • Mechanical Engineer
