Press release: Get library reminders online

Friday 17 February 2012

You can now receive instant updates from your library telling you when reserved items are available or letting you know when your books are overdue.

By signing up to receive email alerts rather than letters, you can get news of your loans and requested items immediately. Every email alert has a link to our E-library, so you can reserve or renew items straight away.

Switching to email alerts also helps us to be kinder to the environment. Every year East Sussex Libraries send out thousands of pages of late loan notifications by post. By "going paperless" you can help us save paper, and reduce printing and delivery costs.

Councillor Tony Freebody, Lead Member for Community Services at the County Council said: "I would encourage everyone who uses the library and has access to a computer to sign up for email alerts. It will help the environment, and by getting an immediate alert when your book is overdue, you could even save yourselves a library fine!

"If you are unsure how to use email, you could always sign up for our Computer Buddies and free online courses. But if you change your mind and want to go back to receiving a letter, you can switch back to paper anytime you choose."

To sign up for email alerts speak to a member of library staff, call 0345 60 80 196 or sign in to your library account online.

We'll never share your details with any other individual or organization.
