East Sussex County Council's Library Service is once again offering family history buffs across the county the chance to learn top tips to help them delve into the past.
The Library Service has developed a six-week family history course that will cover the basic principles, give an insight into adopting good practice and identify the resources available to help amateur historians navigate their family tree.
Local family historian, Bob Spilsted from the Eastbourne and District Family History Society will lead the course. The course starts on 4 September 2010 and will be held on Saturdays from 10am until 12 noon at Eastbourne Library in Grove Road.
Researching family history is one of the most popular pastimes in the UK. Television programmes such as ‘Who Do You Think You Are?' have helped to keep interest in the subject at a high level and course organisers are expecting places to fill up quickly.
The course costs £40 per person which includes course materials. Please telephone 0345 60 80 196 and ask for Eastbourne Library – Discover Family History! You can also email library.eastbourne.ref@eastsussex.gov.uk for further information.
