Press release: Now's the time to have your say about Eastbourne parking

Tuesday 29 June 2010

There are just a few days left for people in Eastbourne to have their say about parking in the town

The closing date for this part of the consultation is Monday 5 July.

The review, which has been running since Monday 7 June, is aimed at finding out if parking controls have been effective and if they need to be altered in any way.

We recognise that parking is an important issue for many people and we are keen to ensure that everyone who lives, works or visits Eastbourne has the opportunity to put their views to us. We have been talking to local residents, businesses and their employees, visitors and other interested parties about their experiences. And there is still time for you to tell us your views on:

  • how effective the existing parking controls are in Eastbourne town centre and along the seafront
  • whether we need to alter the current parking controls
  • whether we need to extend parking controls in the town centre
  • the possibility of introducing parking controls in other areas where residents have told us they suffer from parking problems, such as Hampden Park, Meads, Rodmill and the area around the District General Hospital.

The cost of the review is being added to the original set up and running costs of the current town centre parking scheme and will be funded directly from money raised through the current town centre parking scheme. No other funding is required to carry out the review.

If you live in the town centre area where parking controls already exist, or in the area surrounding the town centre, you will have received a leaflet, questionnaire and freepost envelope. Please send it back to the freepost address by Monday 5 July.

If you do not live in the town centre, you can still have a say – all views will be considered as part of the review process.

You can complete the questionnaire online:

Leaflets and paper copies of the questionnire are also available in libraries, post offices, leisure centres and other outlets.
