The event, which carries the theme of ‘Winning Construction Work' will be held at Sussex Coast College in Hastings from 4pm to 6.30pm.
The workshop will help attendees to find out how they can improve their chances of getting a share of the £150 million spend on construction work for schools, on roads and other aspects of the built environment in East Sussex.
Led by East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council, Build East Sussex (BES) is a network of construction companies, subcontractors and business support organisations.
Councillor Peter Jones, Leader of the County Council said: “I'm really pleased that we are holding our next BES event in Hastings and I would be delighted to see local companies involved in the construction industry coming along to what will be a very valuable networking event.
“The BES network is laying the foundations for small and medium-sized firms to engage with public sector construction companies enabling them to improve their chances of participating in the estimated £150m that will be contracted locally in the next year.”
The event is open to anyone who works in construction or the built environment industries, whether as a builder or consultant. Central to the workshop will be two keynote speeches: Mears Group plc will share their customer care processes and what they expect from sub-contractors and Vinci Construction will explore how businesses can use BES to identify work opportunities, and how they might be able to ‘stand out from the crowd'.
Many of the other main contractors leading significant construction projects across the county will be exhibiting, and this offers a valuable networking opportunity. They will be happy to discuss the work they will be sub-contracting and their individual pre-qualification requirements. Our business support partners, such as Business Link and ConstructionSkills, will be on hand to help businesses access help and support in meeting pre-qualification requirements.
Over 650 people have attended the two Build East Sussex events that have been held so far, and the following are extracts from the event feedback:
“I found the whole experience invigorating, met many clients and potential clients, created several opportunities for sizeable projects and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thanks.”
“Very impressed with the event. We will develop some really good business opportunities from today.”
“What a great idea this is! We will definitely register back at the office so that we can keep in touch with the contacts we made today.”
As well as learning how to increase opportunities for winning work, there will also be an opportunity to register on the Build East Sussex website, where businesses will be able to complete a subcontractor introductory questionnaire accepted by all the main contractors in the network as well as viewing and expressing interest in tendering for the advertised work opportunities.
If you would like to attend, please email: admin@buildeastsussex.co.uk with names of delegates. Businesses that would like more information should call David Moore on 01263 735486.
