Press release: Have your say about our countryside sites online

Monday 29 March 2010

Visitors to countryside parks in East Sussex now have the opportunity to share their views on how they are managed and maintained via a new online system called GreenSTAT.

People can complete an online questionnaire on any of the various countryside sites managed across the county by the County Council's Countryside Management team. GreenSTAT allows people to comment on the aspects of the site including: cleanliness, accessibility, design, maintenance and the facilities on site. This will help to give site managers a better understanding of visitors' needs and will help shape future management plans for the sites. A paper copy questionnaire can also be requested and returned via free post.

Councillor Matthew Lock, Lead Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment said, "With spring on the way, more people will be going out to explore the wonderful countryside which is right on our doorstep. Now they can have their say on their experience, helping us learn how people feel about our countryside sites and how they would like to see them managed in future."

The GreenSTAT system is a national system allowing people to comment on sites up and down the country. The County Council's year-long subscription to GreenSTAT has been funded by European Union funding via the Accessing the Countryside Interreg IVA 2 Seas Project.
