Press release: Link road inquiry – find out more

Monday 24 August 2009

The pre-public inquiry meeting into the Bexhill to Hastings link road Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) will be at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, on 3 September 2009 at 2pm.

At the meeting, which is open to the public, the independent public inquiry inspector will agree how the inquiry will be conducted. Everyone who has commented on the CPOs has already been invited.

The public inquiry itself will start on 10 November 2009 at White Rock Theatre, Hastings. The inquiry is expected to last approximately four weeks.

The Council has been negotiating with landowners to purchase land needed both directly for the link road and also for environmental habitats to replace those affected by the road, and has already issued CPOs and a Side Roads Order. The public inquiry will consider objections to these orders.

All objectors will have the opportunity to present their objections to Christopher Tipping, the inquiry inspector, who will report on his findings to the Secretary of State for Transport and the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
