The County Council is objecting to Network Rail proposals including the withdrawal of direct trains from Hastings to London's Cannon Street station by 2015 and a reduction in the number of carriages from 12 to eight between Hastings and London Charing Cross from the same date.

County Council takes action to clear countryside paths

Enforcement action by County Council rangers has made areas of the countryside accessible to the public again in Arlington. The action took place on Thursday 23 July when four rangers using two mini-tractors with flails cleared maize, wheat and barley up to two metres high from four paths that had been blocked by the crops.
