The County Council supports a large number of bus services in East Sussex. The current contracts for most supported local bus services in the Wealden and Eastbourne areas, along with some services in Lewes and Rother areas, end in July 2009.
The proposed changes to these routes are available on our website and will take effect when the new contracts are awarded in July.
These changes are being considered to make sure the best possible service is being provided at the best possible value. The changes have been made based on:
- the existing use of services
- financial criteria, and
- comments from users during on-board surveys.

People’s comments will be analysed and used to help in making a decision on the proposals. Tender documents have also been sent to local bus and coach operators and their submissions will also be considered, with the final recommendations being reviewed by the Lead Member for Transport and Environment on 20 April 2009.
