East Sussex County Council has replaced over 250 public access computers in all its libraries across the county at a cost of £200,000. Over the last four months, the new computers have been installed along with new scanners and printers.
Councillor Bob Tidy, Lead Member for Community Services said: “We wanted to provide people with better ICT facilities, to help them whatever they are doing – whether it’s searching for jobs, smartening up their CV, researching family history or helping their children with homework. We’ve also invested in Guide software, approved by the RNIB, to help those with sight problems to access the Internet.
“And remember, all these facilities are available free of charge – a welcome bonus for many individuals and families during the current recession.”
