Once again, East Sussex students are celebrating their best ever GCSE results with 46% of students gaining five or more A* - C grades, including mathematics and English.
Councillor David Elkin, Lead Member for Learning and School Effectiveness acknowledged the achievement. He said:
"Students work hard for their GCSEs and it is encouraging to see so many successes. Results are also a testament to the skills and dedication of teachers. I’d like to congratulate our students and schools on their achievement."
Provisional results reveal that 14 schools have had their best ever results for 5+ A*-C grades including English and mathematics. They are:
- Rye College (39%)
- Bishop Bell C of E School, Eastbourne (56%)
- Robertsbridge Community College (62%)
- Peacehaven Community School (44%)
- Heathfield Community College (59%)
- Beacon Community College (51%)
- Tideway School (32%)
- Hailsham Community College (42%)
- Helenswood School (50%)
- Ratton School (53%)
- Filsham Valley School (34%)
- St Richards’s Catholic College (80%)
- Heathfield Community College (59%)
- Seaford Head Community College (51%)
Overall, 18 schools had better results than last year.
A more detailed analysis of grades will be available in the autumn once the figures have been submitted to the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and any grading appeals processed.
