The extra money will be spent specifically on B and C class roads around the county and will improve the condition of the edge of the carriageway on over 12km of our roads.
Councillor Matthew Lock, Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, said:
"This is a great boost to our maintenance fund. It means we can do extra repair work this year which will prevent those roads deteriorating further. It also provides a good basis for re-surfacing those roads next year as the edge of the road will already be sound. This work should also reduce damage to vehicles caused by crumbling edges. "
